Participation At A Special UN Meeting In New York, United States

PROFOH is a long standing member of Stakeholders Forum, an international organization working to advance sustainable development and promote democracy at a global level. Our work aims to enhance open, accountable and participatory international decision-making on sustainable development through enhancing the involvement of stakeholders in intergovernmental processes.

The Forum seeks to provide a bridge between those who have a stake in sustainable development, and the international forums where decisions are made in their name. To this end, we work with a diversity of stakeholders globally on international policy development and advocacy; stakeholder engagement and consultation; media and communications and capacity building – all with the ultimate objective of promoting progressive outcomes on sustainable development through an open and participatory approach. Dr. Nessie Ndive-Hill is PROFOH United Nations Liaison represented our organization.

There were four outstanding panelists, namely, Steve Way good, Chief Responsible Investment Officer, AVIVA Investors, George Kell, Executive Director, UN Global Compact, Pietro Bertazzi, Senior Manager Policy and Government Affairs  Global Reporting Initiative, and Debra Jones, Director and UN Representative, Save the Children. One of the objective of the special meeting to generate ideas, discussions on governance, policy implementation, and multi-stakeholder partnership The topics addressed how corporate governance and transparency are enhancing the contribution of the private sector on the three dimensions of sustainable development. Presentations will also illustrate with concrete examples how this is being done in practice and how the intergovernmental process.
