Participation Of UNESCO International Forum Abuja Nigeria

UNESCO launched the Global Forum for Partnership on MIL (GFPMIL), held in Abuja Nigeria under the theme “Promoting Media and Information Literacy as a Means to Cultural Diversity”. This initiative is a partnership between UNESCO, the United Nation Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC), the Government of Saudi Arabia, the Swedish International Development Agency, the Government of Nigeria, and other International and Regional State holders.

The  Global  Forum for  Partnership on  Media and Information  Literacy (GFPMIL) specific  objectives includes: Articulating concrete partnerships to drive MIL development and impact globally; enabling the MIL Community to speak as one voice on certain critical matters, particularly as it relates to policies; with Africa as overarching priority for UNESCO, GFPMIL to incorporate the International MIL and intercultural Dialogue conference as the first Global partnership project with a focus on Sub-Sahara Africa and Middle East and North Africa..Develop within the participants‟ countries, Educational and Media production practices that contribute to dissolving prejudice and intercultural  barriers and favor global dialogue and cooperation among citizens as well as social and political Institutions around the World. Promote global actions relating to MIL(Including adaptation of the UNESCO MIL Curriculum for Teachers Education and other relevant tools, publications, Congresses, Seminars, teaching resources for faculty and Students‟ exchanges) that could contribute towards stimulating among people of and within different cultures and Societies.
